(the Revd) Aaron White
Minister of Liturgy
Fr Aaron was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, but hails from “a little bit of everywhere” having lived in nine states with seventeen different addresses. During all that moving, he received a BA in English Writing from Messiah University, where he also met and married his wife, Cheryl; received a MDiv from Asbury Theological Seminary; served as Pastor of Youth in Elberta, AL; served as Assistant Pastor to Young Adults in Pittsburgh, PA; and served in the US Army as a chaplain.
While in the Army and during a deployment to Afghanistan, Aaron was given a Book of Common Prayer (BCP) by a fellow soldier. While using the liturgy found in the BCP in his chapel services, he fell in love with its beauty; with its emphasis on God as the focus of our worship; and with its rootedness is the historic church. After returning from his deployment, he was ordained an Anglican priest in 2011.
Aaron, his wife Cheryl, and their two daughters, came to Columbia in December 2011 when he was assigned to Fort Jackson. After ten years of military service, He retired from the Army in 2015. Since then, he and his family have settled on a small farm with chickens, goats, honey bees, and a large garden.
Fr Aaron’s deep love for the worship of God, as expressed in our Anglican liturgy, finds articulation in his role as Liturgist at Church of the Apostles.
