The goal for a written announcement is not just logistics, but the “why” of the event. Typically gets edited down to around 50 words. More is ok, as it gives the editor a clearer idea of what you are trying to convey and makes editing easier. Announcements are both inviting and informative. Not just data. Make people want to join.
Work to use active, not passive voice.
Don’t self-refer to CotA. “We” and “us” and “our” mean CotA when they are in our publications.
