Jonathan Furst is the Coalition for Christian Outreach (CCO) Campus Minister at Church of the Apostles. He and family are most recently from Ithaca, New York, but Jonathan has lived in nearly every major region of the United States and also Western Canada.
Although raised in a Christian home, his relationship with Christ began in early high school while involved with Young Life in the Philadelphia area. It was also at that time that he began to sense a call to serve Christ in the Church. As an undergrad at Columbia International University, he was an active member of a Baptist church plant at the University of South Carolina. After graduating from CIU, he married Bethany and moved to Vancouver, BC to attend Regent College where he completed a Master of Arts (Theological Studies) with a concentration in Church History. While in Vancouver, they were apart of St. John’s Vancouver and Jonathan served as a ministry fellow with the Artizo Institute. In the course of God’s providence (disguised cleverly as a visa snafu with the Canadian Government), the Furst family unexpectedly found themselves living in Ithaca, NY, where they worshipped with Bread of Life Anglican Church and Jonathan worked as a letter carrier in the United States Postal Service.
Jonathan loves teaching and working with college students, and before joining the staff of CCO and Church of the Apostles, he taught U.S. Politics and Economics at a local high school. He also loves writing, reading, maps, and going for walks with Bethany and his children Ada and Shepherd.
